Inspired by today’s ever-expanding phenomenon of competition TV shows, this innovative show pits two art world “rivals” head-to-head in a no-holds-barred painting competition, challenging and provoking our understanding of memory, location and self.  As the battle rages in this exciting physical and mental competition, these two painters’ painters come to blows, exploring the use of expressive colors and strong brushwork to evoke powerful emotions and a sense of time and place.  Pitting the natural beauty of the landscape against the profound presence of the figure, Petley-Jones and Anfield compete to impress an expert panel of judges, contemporary artists and the general public.
